The aim of this course is to develop the students’ skills and interests in their chosen areas. To increase awareness of the breadth of this textile art, its traditions, and history including contemporary usage, and to encourage students to produce embroidery works of good design and quality. The course goes from Level 1 to Level 4. There is also an Advanced Certificate which requires indepth study of an embroidery related topic with extensive research and projects.
Before commencing the Certificate Course prospective students are asked to submit several embroidered items to show their current proficiency. Please view the prerequisite form here.
Duration of Course
This is a self-paced course. There are no formal classes, but the study is guided. Regular workshops are held to explore stitches and styles and regular counseling is offered to all students at Guild headquarters. Information re workshops and individual counseling is available to Country members by correspondence.
Any Guild member is welcome to attend any of the Certificate Courses’ Workshops on the 4th Saturday of the month without committing themselves to do the Course.
