What a lovely way to start the New Year. Our Guild was awarded the City of West Torrens Australia Day Community Group Award. Our President Mary Hall accepted the award from the Mayor Michael Coxon at the Council’s Australia Day celebrations.
While many members were stitching and catching up on their unfinished projects during the break, other members were organising projects and maintainance around the Guild premises. The Library team held a stocktake and the Museum team continued the cataloguing and storage of the wonderful objects donated during the year. The Library team has also been busy accessing new books covering a wide range of techniques – Blackwork, Goldwork, Shashiko and Hedebo among them. Inspiration and projects for all stitching levels.
This year the Guild is participating in SALA during August. The theme is “Divergent Textiles” – giving a chance for all members to show their skill and creativity. If you need ideas, check the boards in the Gallery.
All the groups are now back in session and there are new classes to check out. Something for all skill levels.
A reminder that our Diamond Anniversary will be held in July 2025. The Guild has candle kits available from the office for $5.00. There is wide scope to embellish the basic pattern, so have a go and add to the display in 2025.
