Pulled Work Needlecase 2 day workshop with Tessa Chaplin

If you have always wanted to learn this beautiful whitework technique but didn’t know how or where to make the first stitch, this is the class for you.

Dating back to the 16th century, pulled work is a predecessor to needle lace. This form of whitework uses the stitches to manipulate and compress the fabric threads, creating intricate, lace-like patterns without cutting or removing threads.

Create a pretty and functional needlecase, the instructions will include the matching pin cushion and scissor fob.

The exterior of this pretty needlecase features a mini sampler with 4 pulled work fillings. The back cover can be finished with a heart motif or you could stitch your initials or try another filling stitch. The inside of the needlecase has pockets for packets of needles and your scissors or perhaps a needle threader and your needle ID cards.

KIT COST: $35 – Includes notes, needles, threads, linen, button, felt, lining fabric, and interfacing

Closing Date Friday 29th May

-this class is not suitable for beginners to embroidery but is suitable for those new to the technique as well as experienced embroiderers. It will be assumed that experience of counting threads as well as the following stitches is already known; backstitch, cross stitch, satin stitch, eyelets.

** for those students who want to extend themselves, there will be an alternate with more difficult filling stitches
