Grace’s Garden OR Spool Play 2 day workshop with Ann-Marie Anderson Mayes

Choose to stitch one of the following designs:

Grace’s Garden – The design combines canvaswork embroidery, blackwork embroidery, and a simple “garden” panel with subtle embellishment from some lovely metallic threads. In the workshop you will learn all the stitches required to complete the design as well as the interesting ways that we can play with colour to completely alter the look of a final piece. My version is worked on 24-count Congress (finished size 20.5cm x 25.5cm). If you are worried about the fineness of the canvas, you can choose to work on 18-count canvas (finished size 27cm x 34cm).

Grace’s Garden Kit – Canvas (24 or 18 count) & notes $40. Optional thread pack including specialty gold threads for 24 count $100, or without gold threads $75. For 18 count canvas $150, or without gold threads $105.

Spool Play – This fun project starts as a simple rectangle filled with stripes of different stitches, then transforms into a delightful pincushion with the addition of some felt, card and stuffing. The design is great for encouraging students to develop creative confidence with colour and stitch choice. I will teach it so that students feel fully supported to use as much or as little of the provided chart as they wish. Beginners can simply work the original design to build their confidence, whereas more experienced students might choose to use their stitch knowledge to have fun making the design their own creative interpretation.
