Four Seasons 2 day workshop with Anna Scott

Four Seasons is inspired by the changing seasons on the vineyards I called home for 20 years. In the vineyard, every season had its own beauty. From the delicate growth in spring, the dense canopy of leaves in summer through the explosion of colour in autumn to the sparse, sculptural branches after pruning in winter. Among the vines are a pair of cheeky cockatoos and a nosy magpie. A scrolling pat-tern of stylized bunches of grapes and silver border completes the design. The embroidery design measures: 20cm x 44cm wide. The embroidery is mostly worked using common, surface embroidery stitches, with the highlights of silver metal threads, tiny paillettes and beads. The design is worked onto Italian linen. 14 shades of Danish flower thread are used to grade the colour of the leaves through the seasons. During the class, you will learn to mount your fabric onto a stretcher frame. We will work step-by-step through all the components of the vines and embroider one of the birds. You will learn how to use the metal threads and I will share hints and tip on how to achieve the best result from your embroidery. To get the most from this class, you should have a bit of experience in surface embroidery. No experience in metal thread embroidery is needed.
