Embroidered Bookbinding 3 day workshop with Maree Talbot

Stitch a heavily embroidered book cover typical of bookbindings from the late 16th and early 17th centuries. These small lavishly embroidered bindings were used for volumes of Psalms, the bible or other religious subjects. The completed book measures 12cm x 7cm.The embroidery is stitched in gumnut yarn “stars” silk threads on 55 count Kingston linen.

The Embroidered Bookbinding was designed to complement the casket but is a stand alone project that can be made into a book or framed as a triptych. For those choosing to make it into a book the pages will contain the printed history of our embroidered casket or blank pages for those who have not been involved in the casket project.

A kit will be supplied for the embroidered panel at a cost of $100. If you wish to make the panel into a book, there will be an additional cost of $24-$40, depending on the option you choose.
