Exploring Contemporary Embroidery by hand and machine                      3 day workshop with Alsyn Midgelow-Marsden

 Alysn Midgelow-Marsden is an Auckland-based, innovative mixed media and textile artist, renowned for an experimental approach using a wide range of materials, both textile and non-textile, to create fluid works that are inspired by her love of science.

In this 3-day class you will experiment with a variety of different metals, threads, plastic, paint and fabrics to create contemporary pieces that you can adapt into 2 and 3 dimensional artworks (e.g wall art/ cushion covers/ lampshades) or develop into a wearable item of your own design.  The choice of article will be determined by the student. 

 Some experience with hand embroidery and use of the sewing machine will be helpful.
